| 1 | بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ن ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ | |
| নূন। শপথ কলমের এবং সেই বিষয়ের যা তারা লিপিবদ্ধ করে, | Nun. By the Pen and the (Record) which (men) write,- | |
| 2 | مَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ | |
| আপনার পালনকর্তার অনুগ্রহে আপনি উম্মাদ নন। | Thou art not, by the Grace of thy Lord, mad or possessed. | |
| 3 | وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ | |
| আপনার জন্যে অবশ্যই রয়েছে অশেষ পুরস্কার। | Nay, verily for thee is a Reward unfailing: | |
| 4 | وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ | |
| আপনি অবশ্যই মহান চরিত্রের অধিকারী। | And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character. | |
| 5 | فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ | |
| সত্ত্বরই আপনি দেখে নিবেন এবং তারাও দেখে নিবে। | Soon wilt thou see, and they will see, | |
| 6 | بِأَيْيِكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ | |
| কে তোমাদের মধ্যে বিকারগ্রস্ত। | Which of you is afflicted with madness. | |
| 7 | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ | |
| আপনার পালনকর্তা সম্যক জানেন কে তাঁর পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়েছে এবং তিনি জানেন যারা সৎপথ প্রাপ্ত। | Verily it is thy Lord that knoweth best, which (among men) hath strayed from His Path: and He knoweth best those who receive (true) Guidance. | |
| 8 | فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ | |
| অতএব, আপনি মিথ্যারোপকারীদের আনুগত্য করবেন না। | So hearken not to those who deny (the Truth). | |
| 9 | وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ | |
| তারা চায় যদি আপনি নমনীয় হন, তবে তারাও নমনীয় হবে। | Their desire is that thou shouldst be pliant: so would they be pliant. | |
| 10 | وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَهِينٍ | |
| যে অধিক শপথ করে, যে লাঞ্ছিত, আপনি তার আনুগত্য করবেন না। | Heed not the type of despicable men,- ready with oaths, | |
| 11 | هَمَّازٍ مَشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ | |
| যে পশ্চাতে নিন্দা করে একের কথা অপরের নিকট লাগিয়ে ফিরে। | A slanderer, going about with calumnies, | |
| 12 | مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ | |
| যে ভাল কাজে বাধা দেয়, সে সীমালংঘন করে, সে পাপিষ্ঠ, | (Habitually) hindering (all) good, transgressing beyond bounds, deep in sin, | |
| 13 | عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ | |
| কঠোর স্বভাব, তদুপরি কুখ্যাত; | Violent (and cruel),- with all that, base-born,- | |
| 14 | أَنْ كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ | |
| এ কারণে যে, সে ধন-সম্পদ ও সন্তান সন্ততির অধিকারী। | Because he possesses wealth and (numerous) sons. | |
| 15 | إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |
| তার কাছে আমার আয়াত পাঠ করা হলে সে বলে; সেকালের উপকথা। | When to him are rehearsed Our Signs, "Tales of the ancients", he cries! | |
| 16 | سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ | |
| আমি তার নাসিকা দাগিয়ে দিব। | Soon shall We brand (the beast) on the snout! | |
| 17 | إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ | |
| আমি তাদেরকে পরীক্ষা করেছি, যেমন পরীক্ষা করেছি উদ্যানওয়ালাদের, যখন তারা শপথ করেছিল যে, সকালে বাগানের ফল আহরণ করবে, | Verily We have tried them as We tried the People of the Garden, when they resolved to gather the fruits of the (garden) in the morning. | |
| 18 | وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ | |
| ইনশাআল্লাহ না বলে। | But made no reservation, ("If it be Allah's Will"). | |
| 19 | فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ | |
| অতঃপর আপনার পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে বাগানে এক বিপদ এসে পতিত হলো। যখন তারা নিদ্রিত ছিল। | Then there came on the (garden) a visitation from thy Lord, (which swept away) all around, while they were asleep. | |
| 20 | فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ | |
| ফলে সকাল পর্যন্ত হয়ে গেল ছিন্নবিচ্ছিন্ন তৃণসম। | So the (garden) became, by the morning, like a dark and desolate spot, (whose fruit had been gathered). | |
